     Esther Wilson was born between 1845 and 1846 at Indiana, USA.¹ She appeared on the census of 1 June 1860 in the household of John Trotter and Nancy W. Strickland at Utica Township, Winnebago, Wisconsin, USA.¹ Esther Wilson The Sarah Wilson who appears with Esther in the 1860 US census living with John Trotter and Nancy (Strickland Wilson) Trotter is almost certainly Nancy's daughter by her first husband Shannon Wilson. However, Shannon and Nancy do not appear to have had a daughter named Esther. The did have a child who would have been Esther's age in 1860, but that was a son, Etham. I consider it unlikely that the census recorder would have gotten both the name and sex wrong so the assumption is that she is a cousin of the other Wilson and Trotter children.¹

     Nancy Jane McDaniel was born on 9 January 1846 at Indiana, USA.^2,3 She married James Nelson Trotter, son of John Trotter and Esther Wilson, on 12 June 1859 at DeKalb, Missouri, USA.^1,2 Nancy Jane McDaniel and James Nelson Trotter appeared on the census of 1 June 1860 at Polk Township, DeKalb, Missouri, USA.⁴ Nancy Jane McDaniel and James Nelson Trotter appeared on the census of 1 June 1900 at Jackson Twp., Gentry, Missouri, USA.² Nancy Jane McDaniel and James Nelson Trotter appeared on the census of 15 April 1910 at Jackson Twp., Gentry, Missouri, USA.⁵ Nancy Jane McDaniel died on 6 July 1921 at DeKalb, Missouri, USA, at age 75.³
